World of Titan – Mogappair has conducted and organized WINNING EDGE ’12 the largest chess competition in Chennai for school students in Mogappair.
The tournament which was held on 13th and 14th October at the World of Titan showroom at Mogappair had more than 200 pars. The categories for the tournament included age groups, 8, 10, 12, 14. The winners walked away with the latest Titan Watches and Cups. Shri. V.KAMESWARAN B.Sc., B.L. an International Chess Player, Chess Coach, Chess Arbiter, Chess Organiser, Chess Journalist and a Chess philatelist as well, and a Retired Sports Officer in Income Tax.
Sahil Ahmed of Velammal School was the winner of the Boys – Under – 8 and Abinav Ram Kumar S of SBOA won the 2nd Place. Miruthula and Nivedita of DAV won the first and second place for the same category. For the boys Under 10 age group Anantha Venkatesan V – Velammal School and Rahul Kumar K.G – Velammal School won the first and second place respectively and Keerthi V of DAV won the group for the girls category. The other winners for the categories are Boys – Under – 12: Satish S A, Winner, Ranjith Raj N M, 2nd Place. Girls – Under – 12: Sangavi s, Winner, Aarthi, 2nd Place. Boys – Under 14: Karthik Narayanan, Winner, Aravind K, 2nd Place.
