Director Al.Vijay defends producing film for Ponnuswamy, confirms project with Vijay:

After the release of the film “Thandavam”, director Al.Vijay today (October 06, 2012) called upon the press and explained about the script controversy of the film “Thandavam” and his next venture to direct a film for Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Vijay said that “Thandavam” was his own script and no-one could claim rights for it. He also said that the script had already been registered and in-spite of it, the controversy started between UTV, the producers of the film “Thandavam” and the Mr.Ponnuswamy, who claims to own the script. He also added that the issue was handled by the Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association and since they were not able to find a solution, they had referred both of them to approach the judicial department to seek justice.

Vijay explained that he had heard that Ponnuswamy had met Dhananjayan at UTV and had handed over his script to him. He also said that the same script was returned to Ponnuswamy, since UTV was not interested to make a film of that script. Vijay added that he had not met Ponnuswamy earlier and met only after this issue had started. Vijay says that after the script controversy had started, he went through Ponnuswamy’s script and found out that both the scripts had a resemblance of only a “Blind – Revenge” concept and the storyline were different. He also added that earlier many films like “Sivappu Suriyan”, “Sabash” had come with blind revenge stories and as the same “Thandavam” is a blind revenge story with a different story-line.

Vijay defended the rumor that he had offered monetary assistance to the Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association to support on his behalf. He said that it was a false allegation and he or any of his associate approached them to offer any monetary assistance. He also added that no negotiation took place between Vijay and his team with Ponnuswamy for a monetary compensation or include Ponnuswamy’s name in the title card. Vijay was little wild in his words saying that he would not allow a third person’s name to be used as an initial for his child.

Asking about Ameer’s name being dragged into the “Thandavam” controversy and his resignation from the Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association, he felt sorry for that and said that he never expected Ameer to resign from the post.

On a question to Vijay about the recent news on a daily stating that Al.Vijay to produce a film for Ponnuswamy’s directorial venture, he clearly defended that it was a false news and he did not have any intention of producing a film for Ponnuswamy. He added that Ponnuswamy was a script worthy person and he understood about his value once he read his script and again he said that both the scripts had different storyline and were not the same.

Concluding his interview, he said that his next directorial venture is for Vijay and pre-production work is on process for the film and wished a full-stop for “Thandavam” script controversy.
